I wrote this story back in May 2024. It has been sitting in my drafts since. It sums up my thoughts after watching the Netflix docuseries “Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal”.
Today I stumbled on the newly released Ashley Madison docuseries on Netflix.
Once I started, I couldn’t stop.
With every twist and turn, my face contorted into a weird shape. I felt for every single person mentioned in there. I felt angry at them. I also felt sympathy for them. (Well, obviously more anger than sympathy for some.)
What drives a person to lie? To cheat? To commit fraud?
Ashley Madison was a website that marketed itself as a safe and secure dating platform for those who wanted to seek relationships outside of their marriage. In 2015, the website was hacked and the data was leaked. Countless people who hid their adulterous affairs from their spouses and the public were exposed.
